  • Discussion of architectural design concept and structural requirements.

  • Study of relative costs between alternative framing systems.

  • Preliminary framing system.

  • Preliminary member sizes.

Working Drawing Phase:

  • Confirm preliminary framing and member sizes.

  • Work with geotechnical engineer to determine suitable foundation system.

  • Detailed structural analysis and design.

  • Preparation of structural working drawings.

  • Write structural portion of specifications.

Construction Phase:

  • Establish testing and inspection program for the project.

  • Check structural shop drawings.

  • Resolve field questions relative to structural work.

  • Observe structure during construction

New Structures:

  • Commercial and residential buildings built under the requirements of the California Building Code.

  • School buildings constructed under the requirements of the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and CCR Title 24.

  • Hospital buildings constructed under the requirements of the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) and CCR Title 24.

  • Army, Navy, and Air Force facilities build under the requirements of military building codes.

  • Government buildings for City, County, and State jurisdictions.

  • Anchorage of equipment for hospitals per Office of State Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) and CCR Title 24.

  • Civil Engineering earth retaining structures, tower foundations, and industrial facilities.

  • Review of plans for compliance with Uniform Building Code and CAC Title 24.

Existing Structures:

  • Evaluation of existing buildings to determine their seismic resisting capacity and implementation of corrective work as appropriate.

  • Evaluation and correction of seismic hazards resulting from non-structural elements such as ornamentation, mechanical and electrical equipment, ceilings and light fixtures, chimneys, signs, storage racks, library book stack ranges, floor and wall supported cabinets, access computer floors, and falling hazards at exit ways.

  • Strengthening unreinforced masonry (URM) building in accordance with applicable building codes such as the Uniform Code for Building Conservation and the Santa Barbara City Seismic Safety Ordinance.

  • Remodeling of existing buildings.
